This new screen technology offers a far brighter and clearer image using DNIe technology that is currently found in Samsung's LED and LCD TVs. The phone also offers customizable home pages with some great social networking site integration that can be access straight from one of these home screens.
Another, called the 'Dhomepage' can be used as to display media directly on the home screen, the Samsung Wave also incorporates the latest Bada platform as well as the TouchWiz 3.0 user interface, all of this is powered by an industry leading 1GHz processor for fast application launch and running as well as super sharp graphics on the main touch screen.
Other key features include WiFi, Bluetooth, a comprehensive multimedia player with support for DivX Xvid, MP4 and WMV as well as virtual 5.1 surround sound delivery. New applications can be downloaded from Samsung Apps including a huge range of entertainment, informative and practical applications and programs.
To store all of these new downloads there is a 32GB memory which is handy as the high quality 5.0 mega pixel camera with flash will tempt you to snap away and allow you to store thousands of new photos as well as capture HD quality 720p video clips.
The main touch screen measures 3.3 inches and there is also 3.5G data support as well as GPS, web browser and email support.
In terms of competition, the Samsung Wave has rivals for both its camera resolution and screen size but cannot currently be beaten on screen performance. Coming close is the HTC Desire with a larger AMOLED screen and same 5.0 mega pixel camera as does the HTC Legend with a slightly smaller 3.2 inch screen.
The latest Sony Ericsson Vivaz competes easily with its similar ability to record HD video clips but packs an 8 mega pixel camera as does the new Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 which also expands the touch screen to a large 4 inches.
The Samsung S8500 Wave is now available on a range of third party contract tariffs with more networks expected to pick up this advanced new Samsung phone very soon, there is also a planned SIM Free release due over the coming days which will see the Wave sold without any network locks.
